The solar park was built on the Lowlands car park near Biddinghuizen in the Dutch province of Flevoland. The solar carport covers an area of 35 hectares, making it the largest in the world. The project was realised in collaboration with MOJO, an organiser of large-scale events.
The solar carport provides sheltered parking while generating renewable energy. With over 90,000 solar panels, it produces around 37 MWp of electricity each year. This equals the power used by 10,000 households annually or the electricity supply for 100 festival weekends.
The largest solar carport in the world This solar carport – roughly the size of 70 football pitches – was officially opened in May 2022. No solar carport of this size ever been realised before. We are extremely proud of the fact that we can manage this carport and make a vital contribution improving the sustainability of the Netherlands on this scale.
